How do you accrue pension?
Three ways of pension
You accrue pension in three ways:
- State pension (AOW): you receive tthis pension you receive from the state. Read more about this on www.svb.nl.
- Pension through you employer. You accrue pension at the Heineken Pension fund. Read more about this in this Pensioen 1-2-3.
- Pension you arrange yourself. For example with an annuity or bank savings.
Average pay arrangement
You accrue a part of your pension each year. The pension that you receive on retirement is the sum of all these parts. From the retirement date you receive this pension for as long as you live. This is called an average pay arrangement scheme.
Build up percentage
You accrue part of your pension each year, though not on the bases of your whole gross salary. Because you already receive a basic pension from the state (AOW), you do not accrue pension benefits on a threshold amount. This is called the franchise. In 2023 the franchise is € 17,488. Each year you accrue 1.85% pension on the gross salary (up to a maximum of € 128,810 (2023)) minus the threshold amount.
Who is paying for your pension
Each month you pay a contribution for your pension. Your employer does this as well. Check your CLA or ask your employer how much you pay and how much your employer pays. The gross level of you contribution can be seen on your salary statement.
