How do we invest?

We invest the pension contributions paid into the pension plan with the aim of growing pension capital and helping to keep pensions affordable in the future. We also invest as responsibly as possible. This means we want our investments to contribute to a world worth living in.

How do we invest?

Under the pension plan, all pension capital is invested collectively in accordance with the agreed investment policy.

To develop this policy, we conduct research among our members, analyse the characteristics of our membership and take account of insights from scientific research. The outcomes help determine our risk attitude, which is used when setting the investment policy.

The pension fund invests on behalf of everyone who has a pension with us. By investing collectively, we can keep investment costs low, share risks and gain access to a wide range of asset classes.

How these risks are shared depends on:

  • your age;

  • the level of risk that is appropriate for your age group; and

  • whether you are before or after your pension commencement date.

We invest differently for pensioners and members who are approaching retirement than for younger members. As participants get older, we gradually reduce the level of investment risk.

This is known as lifecycle investing.
