What costs does the pension fund have
The pension fund has costs. These costs are necessary to administer the pension scheme and invest the pension assets of all members, former members and pensioners.
Operating costs
Operating costs are needed to run the pension fund. These include the costs of pension administration, the organization, office facilities and IT systems. There are also costs for communication, professional advice, governance and supervision by the Dutch Central Bank (DNB) and the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM).
Investment costs
The pension fund invests the pension assets to help pay pensions now and in the future. Investing involves costs.
These costs include:
Management fees: fees paid to the investment managers who manage our investments.
Performance fees: additional fees paid when an investment manager achieves good results.
Other management costs: costs for administration, legal advice, reporting, external advisers and the safekeeping of investments.
Transaction costs: costs incurred when buying and selling investments.
Who pays these costs?
HEINEKEN pays most of the operating costs. Active members pay a small part through their pension contributions.
Investment costs are paid from the investment returns. This means that all members, former members and pensioners share these costs.
How much are these costs?
The operating and investment costs for 2026 will be shown in the 2026 Annual Report, which is expected to be published in June 2027.
Each year, the Annual Report shows the costs incurred by the pension fund. You can find the costs for 2025 and earlier here.
The amount you pay towards operating costs is approximately 2.5% of the employee contribution. In My Pension, under Monthly Overview, these costs have already been deducted from your contribution.
Each year, we inform you of the exact amount on your annual pension statement, which you will usually receive towards the end of the summer.
In 2025, investment costs were 0.80% of the average invested assets. This consisted of asset management costs (0.71%) and transaction costs (0.09%).
In My Pension, the investment result shown already includes these costs. They have already been deducted from the return on your investments.
