Division of partner’s pension after divorce or separation

How is the partner’s pension divided?

Your former partner is entitled to the partner’s pension built up up to the date of your divorce, the end of your registered partnership, or the end of the period during which you lived together.

However, you and your former partner can agree not to divide the partner’s pension.

What do you need to do?

Are you living together without being married or in a registered partnership?

If so, you must remove your partner from our records yourself.

You can do this in one of the following ways:

  1. Complete the Waiver Form for Partner’s Pension after Divorce or Separation; or

  2. Send us a copy or scan of the document that shows you no longer have a shared household.

Are you married or in a registered partnership and living in the Netherlands?

In that case, we automatically receive notification of your divorce or separation.

We will allocate the partner’s pension that is eligible for division to your former partner.

Have you made different arrangements, or would you like to do so because of your divorce, separation, or the end of your period of cohabitation? If so, you and your former partner must complete the waiver form together.

Where can you find more information?

You can find information about your pension and the amounts in My Pension and in your annual Uniform Pension Overview (UPO).

You can also visit mijnpensioenoverzicht.nl and log in with your DigiD to see an overview of all your pensions.
