Taking early retirement

According to the collective labor agreement, your pension starts when you reach the state pension age. You can also choose to have your pension start when you are 68 years old or to have it start earlier than at the age of 68. With us, you can start your pension from the age of 58. This does mean that your old age pension will be lower. You accrue pension for a shorter period of time and the pension must be paid out longer on average.

Retiring early therefore has financial consequences. You should also take into account that the state pension may start at a different time than your early retirement. Check www.svb.nl to see when your state pension starts.

However, if your early retirement date is more than five years before your state pension age, you must have the intention to stop working on your early retirement date.
